South Metro Fire Station 32

S. A. Miro, Inc. provided Structural Engineering services of a fire station with an apparatus bay and a 2-story living quarters area. The facility replaces the old station that resided there for 40 years.

The 16,400 SF fire station consists of a 4-truck apparatus bay with CMU walls and a built-up clerestory truss at the roof that spans 80 feet.

The living quarters area adjacent to the apparatus bay consist of 12 bedrooms with separate bathrooms in addition to a fitness center, training room, the basement and 2 stories of composite slab on metal deck. The roof of the living quarters is constructed with light gauge roof trusses. The CMU walls have many large arched windows, which required curved HSS steel lintels.
Centennial Park Improvements

The Centennial Center Park Improvements project represents a series of targeted enhancements designed to elevate recreational amenities and expand environmental education opportunities within a well-established community park.

The scope includes the addition of new fishing docks, a bird blind, wildlife and interpretive signage, a story walk, a wayside feature, and complementary site furnishings, all carefully integrated into the existing park setting. Building upon previously completed schematic design, S. A. Miro, Inc. provided civil engineering services to advance these improvements while preserving the park’s natural character.

Civil design efforts focused on the layout, grading, and erosion control for new soft-surface trails and the bird blind, ensuring accessibility, durability, and minimal environmental disturbance. The project was intentionally developed to align with existing infrastructure, avoiding modifications to current vehicular access points and parking areas while enhancing pedestrian circulation and user experience throughout the site.

Utility impacts were minimal, with no required modifications or extensions to existing potable water or sanitary sewer systems. In keeping with the low-impact nature of the improvements, no stormwater detention or water quality facilities were necessary, and a formal drainage report was not required. The site’s location outside of mapped floodplain areas further streamlined permitting and design considerations.

Through a context-sensitive and efficient design approach, S. A. Miro, Inc. helped deliver thoughtful enhancements to Centennial Center Park, enriching community amenities while maintaining the ecological integrity of the park environment.
Cushing Dog Park

Our team provided civil engineering services for two additions to Cushing Park: a fenced dog park within the northwestern portion of the existing park, and an update to the existing playground equipment. We located the fencing, designed the underdrain, and developed the proposed grading.
