From a structural standpoint, the project required a robust foundation system consisting of more than 1,000 drilled piers to support the large-scale superstructure. The building utilizes a hybrid structural system combining cast-in-place reinforced and post-tensioned concrete with structural steel elements, including composite beams and long-span box trusses.

A defining engineering feature is the series of cantilevered upper levels, where steel box trusses extend up to 100 feet from internal reinforced concrete cores to support the top three floors and roof. This system enabled the realization of the building’s distinctive architectural form while maintaining structural efficiency and stability.

The facility houses a wide range of program elements, including a multi-million-volume library collection, auditorium, exhibition spaces, and automated book storage and retrieval systems, requiring careful coordination of structural systems with complex functional and vertical transportation requirements.

Located within the RidgeGate East development, the facility consolidates the Police Department and Municipal Court into a modern, purpose-built campus featuring integrated plaza spaces, landscaped areas, parking, and improved pedestrian connectivity.

The project also includes the coordinated extension of High Note Avenue, requiring close collaboration between site and roadway design to ensure seamless access and long-term functionality.S. A. Miro, Inc. served as the civil engineer for the project, delivering innovative and highly coordinated site solutions under an accelerated schedule.

Key engineering elements included the design of a full-spectrum detention pond with capacity to support future regional development, including a planned recreation center.

As one of the first implementations of the RidgeGate Master Drainage Plan for the Happy Canyon Creek and Badger Gulch basins, the project established critical infrastructure to support long-term growth.

Extensive grading operations required expanded erosion and sediment control strategies, including coordination with adjacent parcels for material placement.

Completed from concept through construction documents in just six months, the project highlights technical excellence, adaptability, and forward-thinking design.

Our work included remediating slope discrepancies in the Upper Plaza with a new slab over high-density fill, elevated platforms, and wall extensions, as well as installing anchorage elements to support new catenary lighting.

We also designed new restroom and shelter facilities in the Upper Plaza and Upper South Lot, regraded the South Access Ramp with additional support beams above restrooms, and reconfigured Row 1 with an enlarged walkway opening in the South Stage wall and reconstruction of the stage face.

These improvements enhanced accessibility while preserving the functionality and iconic character of the venue.
