S. A. Miro, Inc. provided structural engineering services for Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, located in historic Lower Downtown Denver, just a block from Coors Field. The project involved the renovation of a historically significant building that once housed the House of Mirrors, though only portions of the original limestone and red brick structure remained following multiple prior renovations.
The project reimagined the space as a three-story, 35,625-square-foot gastropub with a rooftop terrace, while preserving the character of the remaining historic exterior elements. Renovations included removing most of the existing first and second floors, roof deck, and entry ramps, while retaining approximately 4,500 square feet of the structure, including the front room, second floor, and Market Street-facing façade.
The project also called for infilling the existing crawl space to support a new first-floor slab on grade, installing new second and third floor framing and a roof structure over the open deck, and integrating lateral-load resisting elements to ensure structural stability.
These upgrades allowed Whiskey Row to accommodate an elevated nightlife and live music experience while preserving the historic integrity of the space.
